Investing.com - Seymour Hersh, the Pulitzer Prize-winning investigative journalist, is convinced the US government was behind the attack on the Nord Stream pipelines. On Wednesday he published an article showing that of Ukraine's billions of dollars in aid payments, about $400 million has been misappropriated. According to Hersh, the money went down various dark channels.
To ensure the mobility of the Ukrainian military, for example, diesel had to be bought from Russia, as the journalist learned from intelligence sources:
"Zelensky bought the fuel from Russia, the country with which he and Washington are at war. The President of Ukraine and many in his entourage siphoned untold millions from American dollars intended to pay for diesel fuel."
It was also reported that Ukraine's leaders are very inventive in setting up shell companies that then sign deals with private arms dealers around the world that only come off with bribes.
According to Hersh, the CIA is aware of the problem, but the US government doesn't want to hear about it. CIA analysts estimate that $400 million went missing last year. The situation is arguably so clear that CIA Director William Burns raised the issue personally with President Selensky in January.
An intelligence official with first-hand information from the meeting told Hersh that Burns confronted President Selensky about the Ukrainian generals' resentment that their president secured the biggest piece of the pie.
Burns presented Selensky with a list of 35 generals and high-ranking government officials whom the CIA can identify as corrupt. As a result, Selensky removed only 10 people from their posts.
Hersh also reports that there is a major rift between the US government and the Secret Service. The situation originated at the time when the Nord Stream pipelines were blown up. According to Hersh, on orders from US President Biden, which the secret service strongly advised against.
Regarding Secretary of State Blinken and National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan, Hersh's intelligence source said the following:
"They have no experience, no judgment and no moral integrity. They just tell lies and make up stories... Burns isn't the problem... the problem is Biden and his key henchmen - Blinken, Sullivan and their entourage - who are the ones who Criticize Zelensky, see him as a pro-Putinist. They say that we are against evil. That Ukraine will fight until the last bullet is out and beyond. And on the other side is Biden telling America that we will fight as long as it takes."
