TAG24 Ex-FC goalkeeper lashes out against refugee policy: "This political nonsense makes me sick" Article by Florian Fischer • 16 hours • 2 minutes reading time Cologne - The terrible images from Solingen have caused a stir across Germany in recent days. The former goalkeeper of 1. FC Cologne, Markus Pröll (44), also has his opinion on the matter. He has now made it known. The former goalkeeper of 1. FC Cologne, Markus Pröll (44), has sharply criticized German migration policy. "Instead of 'we can do it', a concept of how to do it would have been of enormous importance," the Rheinbach native said in a Facebook post against German migration policy and blamed former Chancellor Angela Merkel (70) in particular for this. "Ms Merkel, your project has failed," he continued. In 2015/16, the former CDU leader had more of a welcoming culture during the refugee crisis. "Germany is helping - OK. But please not at the expense of its own values, culture and, above all, security. If three terrorists are among 100 people taken in, the price is too high. That's it," said Pröll. The 44-year-old also has his opinion on the disgusting attack in Solingen: "If that's the price for being 'colorful', it's definitely too high for me. I clearly distance myself from the right in my view of things. But I also emphasize that security and lightheartedness in everyday life are more important to me than social multiculturalism." The former FC goalkeeper is also very worried about what will happen in a few years. There was a terrorist attack in Solingen last Friday in which three people died. "Christmas 2027 with soldiers in front of the church so that we can celebrate Christmas Eve peacefully. Visiting an outdoor pool with artillery so that we can just go swimming normally?" asks the former Bundesliga professional. To prevent it from coming to that, however, he is calling for a rethink. "This political babble from those who have a completely distorted worldview just makes me sick," he writes in the Facebook post and calls for consequences. For him, "Solingen is hopefully just the beginning" of a major migration debate. But here too, his skepticism prevails. "But I have very serious doubts," Markus Pröll concludes his post.
