・Donald Trump wants to become US president for a second time
・Ex-president could cut social benefits after election victory
・Trump's niece warns about her uncle: Will break promises
Donald Trump wants to be elected US president for a second time in November 2024. His opponent is now Kamala Harris after incumbent US President Joe Biden withdrew from the race. Harris is running alongside her vice president Tim Walz, governor of the state of Minnesota since 2019. Trump recently caused great astonishment with an interview conducted by tech billionaire Elon Musk. Not only did the former president have a conspicuous lisp, he also compared his wife Melania to Kamala Harris.
Trump's niece Mary warns urgently about Donald Trump and his cuts
The niece of former US President Donald Trump, Mary Trump, has repeatedly made headlines critical of Trump in recent years. She is considered one of his harshest critics. The two no longer seem to have anything in common other than their last names. In a message on the short message service X (formerly Twitter), the 59-year-old explains ahead of Trump's planned campaign speech about the economy:
・"When he talks about 'benefits', he means the cuts to social security.
Donald Trump could cut social security as US president
The concerns are not unfounded. In the spring, Trump already said with regard to social security provided by the state:
・"There is a lot that can be done about entitlements, about cuts and about the theft and mismanagement of entitlements."
However, on Trump's official campaign website, social security is listed under point 14, and he promises to "fight for and protect social security and Medicare, with no cuts and no changes to the retirement age." In addition, Donald Trump only declared at the end of July that seniors should not pay taxes on social security payments. Mary Trump seems certain: her uncle will break these promises.
