Pentagon observes declining morale of Russian soldiers
dpa - Yesterday at 10:10 p.m
According to the US government, the Russian military is increasingly attacking civilian facilities in Ukraine. "We have seen an increase in attacks on civilian infrastructure and civilian targets," a senior US defense official said Thursday.
At the same time, the morale of the Russian soldiers is declining in places. “We have no insight into every unit and every location. But we certainly have anecdotal evidence that morale is not high in some units," the official said.
Lack of humanitarian aid
The humanitarian situation in civil war-torn Yemen continues to deteriorate. According to the UN World Food Program (WFP), 13 million Yemenis are at risk of starvation. The reasons are the protracted civil war and a lack of funds for humanitarian aid.
Signs of concern on the Russian side
It is also noteworthy that the Russian military would consider bringing supplies to Ukraine. At the moment we don't see that happening. But just that this is an issue is a sign of concern on the Russian side, the official said. "After three weeks they start thinking about supplies from elsewhere, including support from armed forces. And after two weeks they launched a call for foreign fighters, which we also called an interesting development."
Continued Russian naval activity is being observed around the southwestern Ukrainian port of Odessa, the senior official said. But there are no "immediate signs" of an attack from the sea. "We are not sure what they intend to do, what they are preparing."
