Despite her fame, the girl from Saarland always remained attached to her home. At just 14, Nicole had found the man of her dreams: car mechanic Winfried Seibert. "It hit me like a bolt of lightning. I knew immediately that I had been lucky and that I had to hold on to it," she said, describing the day she fell in love with "Wini" at a fire department party. He felt the same way. But the couple faced opposition. So-called friends warned Nicole that her career was more important and the relationship wouldn't last anyway... Well, five years after they met, Nicole accepted his marriage proposal. The supposed friends were a thing of the past...
