810th Brigade destroyed: Ukraine reports major victory against Russia's elite unit

Z-LiVE NEWS 810th Brigade destroyed: Ukraine reports major victory against Russia's elite unit Article by Vincent Steinmüller • 11 hours Ukraine celebrates presumed victory over Russia's feared 810th Marine Infantry Brigade. Significant losses indicate the decline of this elite force. Russia's 810th Marine Brigade, a major military player in western Zaporizhzhia Oblast, has likely been "completely defeated," according to a report from ISW. This assessment comes from Budanov, who noted in a September 22 interview with The War Zone that the brigade had been withdrawn from the region and replaced by Russian airborne units. The term “destruction” he uses fits the U.S. military’s definition of damaging an enemy force to the point of physically incapacitating it. The ISW had already reported in October 2022 that the 810th Brigade was operating in Kherson Oblast. After probably regrouping, it took up positions in Zaporizhia. Historically, the brigade has repeatedly suffered significant losses. Ukrainian forces have already defeated the brigade in the past, resulting in the Russian military having to rebuild it. Brigade bleeds out: soldiers fall, many refuse to return to battle What is noteworthy is the fact that the brigade was already experiencing significant losses in personnel. In April 2022, the Ukrainian General Staff reported 158 soldiers from the 810th Brigade killed and around 500 injured. In July 2022, GUR Deputy Major General Vadym Skibitskyi stated that 200 soldiers from the brigade had refused to return to the Ukrainian conflict. Another report from September 2022 said the brigade had lost over 85% of its personnel, with many refusing to return to combat. Russia encourages itself: “Let us decide on the battlefield”
