Mega-blunder by the US government: Pentagon gets serious! Consequences for Trump's right-hand man

The mega-blunder surrounding the published information about an attack on the Houthi militia in a US government chat now has consequences. A close confidant of US President Donald Trump (78) is facing an investigation.
The Pentagon is targeting US Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth: Pentagon Inspector General Steven Stebbins announced an internal investigation into Hegseth's role in the chat group affair on Thursday.
Hegseth and other government officials had discussed a military strike against the Houthi militia in Yemen on the short message service Signal, while a journalist was inadvertently invited to the group.
Stebbins says he wants to determine the extent to which the Secretary of Defense and other Pentagon officials complied with internal policies and procedures. The Inspector General can initiate independent investigations and make recommendations.
The opposition Democrats accuse President Donald Trump's administration of endangering the lives of US soldiers by disclosing the military plans. As a result, they are calling for Hegseth's resignation. (afp)
