Donald Trump shares bizarre, AI-generated Gaza video that seems like satire

Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung Donald Trump shares bizarre, AI-generated Gaza video that seems like satire Article by Kai Spanke • 1 hour • 3 minutes reading time Everything is so cute here: roundabout with Trump statue Donald Trump announced around two weeks ago that he was "determined to buy and take possession of Gaza". Like a real estate developer, he is interested in rebuilding it, expelling the Palestinians living in the Gaza Strip and creating a "Riviera of the Middle East". On what basis this is supposed to happen? Nobody knows. But how the whole thing should be imagined aesthetically is illustrated by a video posted by Trump on the Truth social platform, which is bizarre in every respect, not to say grotesque. Since it seems to be a parody, one wonders why the American president is sharing it. But first things first: At the beginning, a landscape of rubble is seen, along with a child being held by the hands of two adults and led through the ruins. Then the question: "Gaza 2025 - what's next?" The AI-generated clip doesn't take long to answer. Construction cranes. Turquoise water. High-rise buildings. A yacht at anchor. And Elon Musk. In a good mood and grinning enrapturedly, he treats himself to a hummus snack on the beach. As a backdrop, there are bearded dancers (is Trump woker than we thought?) with green headbands reminiscent of Hamas terrorists - and a boy with a golden Trump balloon. The American president himself seems to have strayed into a club as an awkward sugar daddy, which is immediately escalated by the next scene, which shows Musk grooving in a shower of money and being applauded. Then, the tastelessness can only get worse, three children appear, reaching for what we have to assume are dollar bills. Then there is a look at the "Trump Gaza" tower (lots of gold, no taste), Musk again, eating a snack, a large Trump statue and many small versions of it for the desk, which, however, present the most powerful man in the world as if he were sitting on a toilet. Finally, we see Trump and Netanyahu sipping cocktails by the pool of a hotel. The latter, we remember, has an international arrest warrant for alleged war crimes, crimes against humanity and genocide. The fact that the AI video has now been released is probably no coincidence, as Israeli opposition leader Jair Lapid has, according to his own statements, just presented a plan for the future of the Gaza Strip: Egypt should administer the area for the next fifteen years. In the meantime, the moderate Palestinian Authority of Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas could implement reforms in the West Bank - and eventually regain control of the Gaza Strip. Israel has so far not responded to this idea. What we have is an annoying song that simmers away on a low flame, both musically and lyrically, which is the background to the AI clip. It says: "Donald's coming to set you free, bringing the light for all to see, no more tunnels, no more fear: Trump Gaza's finally here. Trump Gaza's shining bright, golden future, a brand new life. Feast and dance, the deal is done, Trump Gaza number one." So everything is fine. OK, the United Nations warned of "ethnic cleansing" in the Gaza Strip, but Trump and Musk are not going to let the party atmosphere be ruined. The video clip seems as if someone wanted to satirically take Trump's Gaza fantasy to the extreme and show everyone how absurd Trump's idea of reality is. But the US president, whose sense of irony is limited, seems to see the grotesque as support. What did Volodymyr Zelensky say? "Trump lives in this disinformation room." The walls there are brightly painted, and there are also bearded belly dancers.
