・Did Donald Trump ignore the Secret Service?
Yet another attempted attack on former US President Donald Trump has taken place. According to reports, Secret Service bodyguards saw a gun barrel protruding from the bush-lined fence of the golf course at Trump's Jupiter Club in West Palm Beach, Florida. According to police, officers then opened fire. The suspect, who was only a few hundred meters away from Trump, did not fire a shot. He fled in a car and was arrested a short time later on a nearby highway. A report now explains that Trump consciously chose the risk.
Donald Trump allegedly knowingly put himself in danger
Perhaps Donald Trump simply underestimated the danger - or simply did not want to listen to the relevant authorities. Because it seems that the concerns about the security of the Trump Club had been known for weeks.
・ABC News' Katherine Faulders reports that the Secret Service warned Donald Trump not to play golf at the Jupiter Club after the agency conducted a threat assessment of several of the ex-president's properties following the first attempt on Trump's life in July.
Did Donald Trump override the Secret Service?
It is not known whether the Secret Service had addressed its security concerns about the Jupiter Club before Trump played a round of golf on Sunday. But it seems unlikely.
・"Trump Jupiter is a golf course that is surrounded by houses on most holes, so it is much more difficult to monitor from a security perspective," Faulders wrote, citing unnamed sources.
Whether Donald Trump ignored the Secret Service's security concerns despite knowing the potential danger of an attack can only be speculated. The 78-year-old praised the Secret Service, a witness and law enforcement authorities in a statement for their quick action after the incident.
