Piper Verlag smooths passage
Monika Gruber is in trouble because of a book she wrote with a journalist. Piper Verlag has decided to change a passage.
Munich – Cabaret artist Monika Gruber is in trouble because of a book she wrote with journalist Andreas Hock. Piper Verlag, where the book “Welcome to the Wrong Film” was recently published, has decided to change a passage. The reason is a dispute that made waves on the “X” platform.
Gruber had made fun of social media manager Roma Maria Mukherjee's tweet, calling her a "self-proclaimed influencer and guardian of virtue" and also questioned her name - "Perhaps Roma Maria Mukherjee's name in real life is just 'Maria Müller.' ' and quickly renamed himself because both - first and last name - sounded a lot like 'Bund deutscher Mädel'?".

Mocking “grotesque trains of thought”
The reason: Mukherjee had already written on Gruber and Hock took up this in the book, mocking the author's "grotesque train of thought" that she sensed right-wing radical knitting circles, where "when you enter the good knitting room you shout 'Strick heil'" and then scarves in AfD blue or "even sheep's wool ones SS uniforms” knit.
Some users of “X” didn’t find it funny at all, and a shitstorm broke out - first about Mukherjee, then about Gruber and Piper Verlag. Some even threatened to boycott the publisher. The information came from there yesterday - also via X - that the publisher “stands for diversity of opinions and tolerance”. Gruber's book is satire and no one should be hurt personally. “We will therefore adapt the corresponding passage for the next edition.” On “X”, however, some users criticized this as half-hearted.
