Undiplomatic step - Trump publishes Selenskyj's personal message in which he asks for a meeting

Donald Trump has published a personal message from Volodymyr Selenskyj in which the Ukrainian president asks for a meeting. Trump posted the message on his platform Truth Social, taking an unusual step that further fuels diplomatic tensions, reports the British "Telegraph".
In the message, Selenskyj wrote: "All of us in Ukraine want to end this war with a just peace. And we know that this is impossible to achieve without America.” The Ukrainian president stressed the importance of constant dialogue and mutual understanding. He added: “Let me know if you are in town at that time - I would be very happy to have a meeting as part of our efforts to end this war in a just manner.”
Trump reveals explosive details - does he want to discredit Zelensky?
The Telegraph reports that Trump confirmed the meeting for the following day in New York. Trump's decision to make the private communication public is being interpreted as an attempt to put Zelensky in a bad light and discredit the Ukrainian leadership.
In a speech in North Carolina, Trump said that Zelensky “refuses to negotiate with Vladimir Putin” and that Ukraine is “destroyed” because of this refusal. He added: "The president of Ukraine is in our country making little mean references to your favorite president: me." In the same speech, Trump said: "Any deal - the worst deal - would have been better than what we have now," adding: "The people are dead" and "The country is in ruins."
Trump prevents meeting with Zelensky
The Telegraph further reports that Trump's criticism led to Republicans in Congress refusing to meet Zelensky during his visit to Washington. At an earlier appearance in Georgia, Trump commented: "Every time Zelensky comes to the United States, he leaves with $100 billion. I think he's the greatest salesman in the world."
Zelensky, who usually speaks positively about Trump in public, expressed skepticism about Trump's ability to end the war in an interview with the New Yorker: "My feeling is that Trump doesn't really know how to stop the war, even though he may think he does."
