Trump threatens chaos if Harris wins the election

Four weeks left until the election of the year. Kamala Harris or Donald Trump? Everything is up for grabs in the USA. Only one thing is certain: if the Republican narrowly loses the battle for the White House, as he did in 2020, it will be the overture to another drama, which, according to security experts, could end with an orgy of violence like the storming of the Capitol four years ago.
The ex-president and the "Grand Old Party", which is largely loyal to him, have long since set the course to discredit an election victory by Kamala Harris in advance and later challenge it with all legal means.
This fits in with the fact that neither Donald Trump nor his vice-presidential candidate J. D. Vance have yet made a clear statement that they will accept the election result of November 5.
Trump is hammering into voters that a Harris victory would be due solely to fraud. "That's the only way we can lose, because they're cheating," he said at a rally in Michigan. As a preventative measure, he is threatening election workers and vote counters who he suspects of fraud with prison sentences.
US election 2024: Will women send Donald Trump into the desert?
Trump is falsely claiming that the personnel change in the top candidacy from Joe Biden to Kamala Harris violates the constitution. He is accusing the US Postal Service of being a "disaster." They are "possibly intentionally losing hundreds of thousands of mail-in ballots" or delivering them late. The head of the agency, Louis DeJoy, vehemently denies this. In 2020, his office delivered 99 percent of all mail-in ballots within a week, and this time too they are prepared to ensure smooth delivery.
Donald Trump also creates the impression that the Democrats are cheating by sending ballots to military personnel and Americans overseas. Because the documents are sent without checking citizenship and eligibility to vote. According to official information, none of this is true.
Trump is accusing the most populous state of California of fraud in the vote count. "If I were running in California with an honest vote counter, I would win California, but the votes are not counted honestly," he said in September. This is also wrong: There is no proven electoral fraud in the west coast state. Trump lost there in 2020 by five million votes to Joe Biden (29 percentage points). Because it is a predominantly Democratic state in which no Republican presidential candidate has won in over 30 years.
One strategy used by Trump stands out above all others: Accompanied by influential voices such as multi-billionaire Elon Musk and former Fox News presenter Tucker Carlson, Trump claims that hundreds of thousands of people illegally registered to vote will vote. To do this, the Democrats are deliberately importing more immigrants to establish a one-party state. "They can't even speak English. They practically don't even know what country they're in," says Trump, "and these people are trying to get them to vote, and that's why they're letting them into our country." On January 6, 2021, a violent mob, incited by Donald Trump, stormed Congress in Washington. © AFP Since the summer, representatives of the Republicans and Trump-affiliated organizations have filed nearly 100 lawsuits. The main claim is that large numbers of non-citizens will falsify the result to Trump's disadvantage. And that the election result of November 5th cannot therefore be properly confirmed in the respective state district.
The fact is, however: 90 days before the presidential election (i.e. August 7th), according to federal law, no court can order the purging of voter registers. "The Republicans are using a big lie to justify their efforts to disrupt or overturn elections," explains Wendy Weiser, a lawyer at the non-partisan Brennan Center for Justice.
What Trump and his accomplices are doing, including the No. 3 in the state, Mike Johnson, the Speaker of the House of Representatives in Washington, is completely unfounded from an expert's point of view. Non-citizens are not allowed to participate in elections at the federal and state level. This is a criminal offense. And occurs extremely rarely.
A second pillar of the preventive fight against the election by Trump supporters is the vote count itself. Here, the southern state of Georgia, which was already cast in a bad light by Trump in 2020, has just passed a controversial reform. It means that all votes have to be counted by hand, which leads to massive delays
