AVICII spoke about the next stage of his life in a poignant message to fans before his sudden death.
This evening, the last statement he posted to his fans on his website has been unearthed.
In the poignant note Avicii - who quit touring in 2016 due to ill health – told them he was preparing for the next stage of his life.
He said in a statement: “We all reach a point in our lives and careers where we understand what matters the most to us.
“For me it’s creating music. That is what I live for, what I feel I was born to do.
“Last year I quit performing live, and many of you thought that was it. But the end of live never meant the end of Avicii or my music.
“Instead, I went back to the place where it all made sense – the studio.
“The next stage will be all about my love of making music to you guys. It is the beginning of something new. Hope you'll enjoy it as much as I do.”
His last tweet showed the star thanking the Billboard Music Awards for his recent nomination.
Avicii, real name Tim Bergling, was also back in the studio, and told his followers on Instagram three weeks ago that he was working on new music.
While the circumstances surrounding his death are currently unknown, the star was open about his health struggles in the past.
Avicii said at the time: “Two weeks ago, I took the time to drive across the U.S. with my friends and team, to just look and see and think about things in a new way.
“It really helped me realise that I needed to make the change that I’d been struggling with for a while.”
He also had acute pancreatitis - which was in part due to excessive drinking - but he admitted he felt “free” and “happy” after his decision to retire.
