In Heidelberg, you can visit the Christmas market again in 2024.
An Advent stroll through Heidelberg's old town offers the opportunity to explore numerous Christmas stalls in addition to historic streets and sights. A wide variety of gift ideas are also presented in various squares. For sporting activities, there is an ice rink on Karlsplatz, which offers a special experience with its view of the famous castle ruins.
In addition to the Christmas market, the Winter Forest and the Heidelberg Ice Rink will also be open again in Heidelberg in 2024. Program at the Heidelberg Christmas market: What's on offer?
The Christmas market in Heidelberg is spread over several squares in the old town, which are decorated with different offers, over 140 different stalls and decorations.
Bismarckplatz: The Christmas market begins at Bismarckplatz with stalls and decorations that serve as a transition to the old town.
University Square: The University Square offers the largest area of the Christmas market with numerous stalls where various products are available. A historic jumping horse carousel is also set up there.
Corn Market: The Corn Market is characterized by numerous decorated fir trees and a nativity scene. The offer is complemented by food, arts and crafts and a children's railway.
Anatomy Garden: In the Anatomy Garden there are several Christmas-themed stalls in front of the monument to the chemist Robert Bunsen.
Karlsplatz: Karlsplatz has an ice rink made of real ice. There are opportunities to buy food and drinks around the ice surface. The view of the castle dominates the backdrop.
Market Square: On the market square there is a wooden attraction in the form of a large barrel with a moving figure representing Perkeo, the symbol of Heidelberg. There are other stalls around the Hercules fountain.
Santa Claus's House: Visitors can visit Santa Claus on the market square. For a donation of 5 euros or more, photos or videos can be taken. The proceeds go to children's projects run by the Lions Club Heidelberg-Altstadt.
Heidelberg Christmas Market 2024: Arrival and parking
To avoid increased traffic and long waiting times on Heidelberg's streets, the city of Heidelberg recommends arriving by public transport. However, it should be noted that it is not possible to get off at the Universitätsplatz stop during the Christmas market.
