News in Five Three firearm incidents in Stockholm in 20 minutes Article by C. Peters • 4 hours • 2 minutes reading time Stockholm (dpa) – Within around 20 minutes, shots were fired in three different locations in the south of the greater Stockholm area. Several people were subsequently arrested, police said. In two cases, shots were fired at a building or apartment late in the evening, and in the third case, shots were fired at one or more people in the open air. In a northwestern suburb of the Swedish capital, an explosion also occurred in front of an apartment building during the night. Arrests were also made here in the morning. According to current information, no one was injured in the incidents. The background to the crimes initially remained unclear. However, Sweden has been struggling with extremely violent gangs for several years. Several gang conflicts in Stockholm and other parts of the Scandinavian country repeatedly lead to deliberate explosions and sometimes fatal shootings. The night before, shots were fired at the Israeli embassy in Stockholm. There were also two explosions, presumably caused by hand grenades, near the Israeli embassy in the Danish capital Copenhagen. Three young Swedes aged between 16 and 19 were subsequently arrested there. One of them was released, according to police.
