The "fat, stupid, foolish" Americans are to blame. Washington, D.C. – Donald Trump expressed his criticism of U.S. trade policy in an interview with Fox News on the show "The Ingraham Angle." The president spoke about what he sees as a fundamental flaw in U.S. foreign policy. According to Trump, the country was trapped by unbalanced trade agreements with its largest trading partners. In his account of political and economic relations, particularly with China, Mexico, and Canada, he emphasized that the US had been disadvantaged for years. Trump again promoted his planned tariff increases on these countries when he discussed a possible summit with Chinese President Xi Jinping in an interview. "We're going to have the strongest economy in the history of the world" – Trump calls April 2 "America's liberation" "China will pay for this, and other countries will pay for this. Donald Trump also addressed concerns that a trade war could plunge the US economy into recession. He dismissed these concerns. "If I hadn't been elected, our country would be finished," Trump said. "We will have the strongest economy in the history of the world." Trade war under Trump weighs on global economy: OECD lowers growth forecast for 2025 The trade war sparked by Trump is weighing on the global economy: The Organization for International Co-operation and Development (OECD) lowered its global growth forecast on Monday, citing "changes in trade policy." The OECD now expects global growth of 3.1 percent in 2025. This is 0.2 percentage points lower than its December forecast.
