Trump, in new interview, says British royal Meghan was 'nasty' to him
LONDON
Donald Trump thinks that Meghan, wife of the British
royal Harry, is "very nice" even if she has been "nasty" to him, the
U.S. president said in pre-released extracts of a broadcast interview.
The rest of the wide-ranging interview, which ITV said would touch on Iran, climate change and Brexit, will be broadcast on Wednesday.
The former Meghan Markle, a U.S.-born actress and now the Duchess of Sussex, married Prince Harry, a grandson of Queen Elizabeth, last year, having criticized Trump during his 2016 election campaign.
"She's doing a good job. I hope she enjoys her life... I think she's very nice," Trump told ITV's "Good Morning Britain", according to a partial transcript ahead of the broadcast.
"She was nasty to me. And that's OK for her to be nasty. It's not good for me to be nasty to her and I wasn't."
The comments add to confusion surrounding Trump's feelings about the royal.
In an interview with British tabloid the Sun ahead of his trip, Trump was confronted with Meghan's 2016 comment that she would move to Canada if he won the presidency.
Trump said he was unaware she made that comment and said on audio tape: "I didn't know that she was nasty."
The comment sparked renewed criticism of how the president talks about women but he denied calling Meghan nasty in a tweet on Sunday.
He sought to clarify further in the ITV interview.
"I wasn’t referring to she's nasty. I said she was nasty about me. And essentially I didn’t know she was nasty about me," Trump told ITV.
Trump is in Britain for a state visit, which will conclude on Wednesday when he goes to Portsmouth to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the D-Day landings of World War Two.
Trump and his wife Melania dined with the queen and her family on Monday at a state banquet. He toasted the queen at the dinner and on Tuesday described her as a fantastic person.
Trump also had warm words for Harry after meeting him at Buckingham Palace.
"I think he's a terrific guy. The royal family is really nice," Trump told ITV. "He couldn't have been nicer."

Donald Trump should not concern himself with what Meagan Markle thinks as she has no influence on world events at all.

"I wasn’t referring to she's nasty. I said she was nasty about me. And essentially I didn’t know she was nasty about me," Trump told ITV.She wasn't being nasty about you, she was just telling the truth about her worries regarding you becoming president!
It's obvious you haven't learned to take criticism, constructive or otherwise, and for a man of your age, you really should be ashamed for even caring about what people think about you and responding.

I
didn’t say what I said because saying that didn’t work out well, so now
I’m saying something different. Why can’t people understand that?

He has not noticed that recording devices have been invented. Nor that words have meanings.

A
person can be "nice" and "appear" to be nice and kind... but the
"intent" and "thoughts" behind it all and some words or actions can be
"nasty" in a sense to whom that is directed and not to others that may
not see or feel that way. That word is a description of how a person
recognizes another person's actions, demeanor and attitude is like.
And to recognize or to call another as being nasty does not make him or her a bad person, either.
So this is another media "hype" to get attention and make an issue which is irrelevant to either party.

"British Royal Meghan"wasn't a royal back in 2016.
Trump made offensive comments about having sex with Princess Diana. In 202, commented on the Kate nude photos on French rag. Called Meghan nasty.
Trump in his state dinner speech called the queen a great woman, not fantastic has posted n the article.

She
was nasty to him. Her comments were unprovoked and unnecessary. She was
simply trying to score cool points with her Hollywood crowd at the
time.

No,
she wasn't nasty to him. She just said he was a nasty person, which
most sane person will admit too. Of course, those living on cloud cuckoo
land (or those being paid by the man-child) will beg to differ.

Whether you like her comments or not, sharing them is the right of everyone visiting or living in the USA.
In 2016, she wasn't married to Harry, so her public comments were that of a private citizen.
People who are "nasty" to others in public, should probably expect others to be nasty towards them. President Trump has definitely been nasty towards many people over the decades, so he shouldn't be surprised.

Why
Mr. Trump, or any republican (sic), should give any special weight to
the opinion of lower status foreign aristocrats - especially
made-to-order ones like Meghan Markle Windsor-Mountbatten - is
mystifying.
However, as stated elsewhere here she was just one of us “common” folk at the time she was said to have commented.

Well
Trump's problem is that he has no class and often talks down to women.
Markle doesn't really have anything to do with that except for
triggering him to put it on display again. But in reality it would have
come out at some point soon either way with another woman.

Donald Trump short fuse, thin skin, politically is his greatest liability.
Any hint of censure, criticism, retort, toys are lunched skyward, blood pressure undergoes a final prelaunch sequence, fingers poised ready to declare a tweeter account defcon one.
The only course of action once temper tantrums give way to careful consolidation to such angry huff puffs is the humiliating climb down. For Donald Trump nasty becomes nice.
If Donald Trump continues to react, instead of engaging in a manner befitting a "POTUS" he will at risk suffering a stroke or worse.

Donald Trump should not concern himself with what Meagan Markle thinks as she has no influence on world events at all.But that's precisely the point. He has no need whatsoever to engage with anything Meghan Markle has ever said, but he does. He does it because his skin is so incredibly thin that he can't leave even the smallest slight alone, he has to have a go back at whoever said it. If I thought he could actually do it, I'd say Trump should learn how to be a President, be dignified, and just not bother with such trivial stuff. But the man just can't help himself.

When Trump tweets or spouts unprovoked trash, who is he trying to score points with? His base?He is trying to score points with himself, and obviously is pretty damn proud of the fact that he has an audience this size. Dude had a huge ego before getting elected, now it's gotten out of hand!
