Heidelberg Castle annually attracts around a million visitors worldwide. It stands alluringly on top of Königstuhl hill, just next the to the beautiful medieval Old Town (5-10 minute walk). The normal entrance fee to the castle is 7 EUR (7.50 USD), and a reduced price is offered for students, and other discount groups for 4 EUR (4.50 USD). Visitors can choose to either hike uphill to the castle, or take a single/round-trip train ride. A visit to the apothecary museum, all gardens, and train rides are included in the ticket price. The good news is it’s completely free to enter the courtyard where you can see Heidelberg from high above without paying for the entrance. Get to know how the castle was repeatedly attacked, and destroyed by the French during the 17th century, reformed and elevated into a monument, and then proclaimed the eighth wonder of the world during the 19th century. Heidelberg Castle inevitably embeds a wonderful historical value for this city.

Built in the 18th century by Prince Karl Theodor, Alte Brück, or Old Bridge, is one of the last rare classical stone bridge buildings. It connects the old town to the bank of Neckar River, and offers a perfect angle for photograph, as you get an incredible view of Neckar and Heidelberg Castle. Especially for travel couples, Old Bridge is most ideal and romantic during an autumn sunset, with incredible colors up on the sky changing every 5-10 minutes. An incredible view of the city during sunset can also be seen from the top of Heidelberg Castle.
