US President Donald Trump has a special relationship with his blonde hair.
Donald Trump issued another bizarre decree on Wednesday evening (April 9). The weak water pressure has always been a thorn in the US president's side. And that's why the motto now applies: "Make America's showers great again," as a White House statement actually states. A reference to Trump's political motto "Make America great again."
The idea is actually just to repeal regulations limiting water pressure in showers in the US. This measure to combat Americans' excessive water waste was introduced by Democratic US Presidents Barack Obama and Joe Biden.
Donald Trump Fights Water Pressure and Signs Bizarre Executive Order
The White House promoted the current measure as part of Trump's agenda to dismantle unnecessary regulations and strengthen Americans' freedom. "To reverse the left's war on water pressure," reads one sentence from the official announcement. Showers should no longer be "weak and useless."
At the signing, Donald Trump couldn't resist a personal remark. "As for me, I like to shower and take care of my beautiful hair," the 78-year-old told reporters in the Oval Office. He added: "I have to stand in the shower for 15 minutes before it gets wet. It comes out, dripping, dripping, dripping. It's ridiculous."
Donald Trump and His Shower War – Parallels to "Seinfeld"
Low-flow shower heads became popular in the 1990s and were the subject of an episode of the TV sitcom "Seinfeld," in which Jerry Seinfeld's characters had installed low-flow shower heads and struggled to get shampoo out of their hair. Following Trump's decree, this connection was widely discussed on social media.
During his first term in office, Donald Trump repeatedly complained about these shower restrictions, particularly that the low water flow was affecting his personal shower experience—he often mentioned that his "perfect hair" suffered as a result. At the time, he had even repealed the measure until Joe Biden reversed it. Whether the measure will actually lead to any noticeable changes remains to be seen.
