Here Are The 10 Most Enchanting, Magical Christmas Towns In Washington
It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas in Washington! Across the state, people are getting geared up for all the holiday parades and festivals of lights to come. Most of our cities and towns show their Christmas spirit somehow, but these 10 locations seem especially magical this time of year.
Of course, our Bavarian village
tops the list. The annual Christmas lighting ceremony draws thousands of
people a year to Leavenworth, but the decorated downtown and abundance
of Christmas shops makes this town a must for anyone who needs some
holiday cheer.
Stanwood is home to the Lights of
Christmas Festival, a time when over one million lights light up Warm
Beach Camp. The festivities begin on December 1st this year.
Ready to have yourself a coastal
Christmas? Anacortes gets into the spirit early with their Nutcracker
Holiday Gift Show in November, which kicks off a host of holiday
activities. Their annual tree lighting ceremony is December 2nd, with a
Holiday Art Walk happening the same day.
Step back in time at Puyallup’s
Victorian Country Christmas Festival, happening November 30 - December 4
at the Washington State Fair Events Center. Between Santa’s Village and
the Winter Wine Garden, you’ll find plenty of holiday cheer.
The Christmas Lighted Boat Parade
is happening on December 2nd and 3rd this year, lighting up the Columbia
River starting at the Clover Island Yacht Club. The annual Senske light
show is also a local tradition, located at 400 N. Quay.
Spokane gets into the holiday
spirit with numerous private Christmas light displays and local events.
On December 9, the Spokane County Fair & Expo Center hosts the
Winter Glow Spectacular, with light displays, crafts, refreshments and
fireworks (on two nights).
Shelton is known as “Christmas Town
USA” due to its abundance of Christmas tree farms. The town also hosts a
holiday parade downtown, which will be December 6th this year.
It’s not a public parade but a
private family home that puts Issaquah on this list. Every year, the
Ginnaty family has put on a magnificent Christmas light show they allow
the public to come and see. The address is 9325 240th Avenue SE, and the
display is usually up from Thanksgiving to New Year’s Eve. There is no
charge, but the family accepts donations for Toys for Tots.
The holiday spirit is alive and
well in Tacoma. Point Defiance Zoo hosts the dazzling ZooLights event
every year, and there’s always a free tree lighting ceremony.
You can depart on the Polar Express
or Santa Steam Train from Chehalis, but you’ll definitely want to
return to explore the town. Their annual Santa Parade is on December 3,
and the Nutcracker is playing locally on December 16-18.
