He now sent them an Easter greeting – insults included. He also directed harsh words at his predecessor, Joe Biden. US President Donald Trump lashed out at domestic political opponents with an unusual Easter greeting on social media. "Happy Easter to everyone, including the left-wing lunatics who are fighting and scheming so hard to bring murderers, drug lords, dangerous prisoners, the mentally ill, known MS-13 gang members, and wife beaters back to our country," Trump wrote on his platform Truth Social. The day before, hundreds of demonstrators had demonstrated in front of the White House, protesting, among other things, Trump's deportation policy. Recently, the US government had come under fire over the case of a migrant whom it had deported to El Salvador despite having been granted deportation protection. The US government initially called it an "administrative error," but simultaneously reiterated the accusation that he was a member of the notorious MS-13 gang. The man and his lawyers deny this. Against the backdrop of judges partially blocking his deportations using a controversial and rarely used law from the 18th century, Trump wrote: "Happy Easter to the weak and incompetent judges, too." The Republican wrote of former President Joe Biden, whom he accuses of failures and mistakes almost daily: "He was by far our worst and most incompetent president, a man who had absolutely no idea what he was doing." But I also wish him and all those who cheated in the 2020 presidential election "so that this most destructive idiot was elected, with great love, sincerity, and affection, a Happy Easter," Trump wrote. For years, he has spread the unsubstantiated claim that his election victory was stolen from him through massive fraud. A few minutes earlier, the US President had sent more traditional Easter greetings at the same location: "Melania and I would like to wish everyone a Happy Easter! Whether you attend church or watch the service from home, may this day be filled with peace and joy for all who celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ. He is risen."
