Former Pentagon official Ian Brzezinski has sharply criticized Donald Trump for his behavior towards Russia. Speaking to PAP, he expressed shame over the former US president's actions, which, in his opinion, went against America's interests and gave the impression of carrying out orders from Vladimir Putin.

In his opinion, the former US president humiliated Ukraine, the victim of Russian aggression, which was contrary to the interests of the United States. Brzezinski stressed that such behavior gave the impression that Trump was acting on behalf of Vladimir Putin.
Did Trump have a chance of a ceasefire?
Brzezinski noted that Trump's policies were not only morally repugnant, but also strategically illogical from the US point of view. The former Pentagon official pointed out that Trump had the opportunity to achieve a permanent ceasefire in Ukraine, but his actions led to concessions to Russia. He stressed that it was necessary to increase pressure on Russia by supporting Ukraine and tightening sanctions.

According to Brzezinski, the Trump administration acted as a neutral mediator, which suited Russia. The former Pentagon official believes that real security guarantees for Ukraine can only be provided by European forces supported by the US. Brzezinski also criticized the idea of a minerals agreement that does not provide Ukraine with real security.
