Donald Trump releases bizarre video saying he was chosen by God to lead the US

Business Insider Germany Donald Trump releases bizarre video saying he was chosen by God to lead the US Article by Alia Shoaib • 17 hours Former US President Donald Trump is not considered to be very religious, but he has many followers among Christians. On his own social network Truth Social, former US President Donald Trump shared a bizarre fan-made video. Trump was chosen by God to lead the country, it says. And: "On June 14, 1946, God looked down on his planned paradise and said, 'I need a overseer.' So God gave us Trump." In the following two minutes and 45 seconds, the announcer portrays Trump as a messianic figure created by God to "fight the Marxists" and "scold the fake news, whose tongues are as sharp as a serpent's." Trump has long had a solid base of support among evangelical Christians in the United States. Polls show that a large proportion of them believe God anointed him president - even though he has never claimed to have strong personal faith. Trump's release of the video suggests he is comfortable in that role ahead of the 2024 election. Trump video: the former president as a divine hero and gentle grandfather The video praises Trump's alleged strengths, including his "arms that are strong enough to crush the Deep State [editor's note circulating in right-wing circles] and yet gentle enough to die at birth "to be there for his own grandchild". It is not clear which grandchild it is. In the video, Trump is also described as a workaholic who worked around the clock as president. His work ethic caused controversy during his tenure, particularly after his private schedules were leaked, revealing that half of his scheduled time was unstructured. The video also claims that Trump attended church services every Sunday, although there is no evidence of this. Trump is not exactly a Bible expert, suggested his Vice President Mike Pence Last year, former Vice President Mike Pence, known as a deeply religious evangelical Christian, mocked Trump's religious devotion during his speech at the Gridiron Club's annual dinner. Pence joked that he "once invited President Trump to read the Bible together" and called it "an experience," the Washington Post reported. "I read that some of the secret documents found at Mar-a-Lago are in the President's Bible," Pence said, alluding to the lengthy investigation into the secret government documents affair. "That proves he had absolutely no idea they were there."
