Anton Hofreiter accidentally sent a letter to the wrong Olaf Scholz in the Chancellery

THE MIRROR Anton Hofreiter accidentally sent a letter to the wrong Olaf Scholz in the Chancellery Article by Marina Kormbaki • 4 hours Who is Olaf Scholz – and if so, how many? According to SPIEGEL information, an email from Green Party member Anton Hofreiter ended up in the Chancellery with a man of that name, but not initially with the Chancellor. The Green Party European politician Anton Hofreiter accidentally sent an incendiary letter intended for the Federal Chancellor to an IT employee at the Chancellery. When Hofreiter recently sent a letter to the Chancellor together with MPs Andreas Schwarz, SPD, and Marie-Agnes Strack-Zimmermann, FDP, asking him to deliver Taurus cruise missiles to Ukraine, his employees accidentally sent the email to the wrong address. Reason for the mix-up: An IT expert works in the Chancellery, who is also called Olaf Scholz. His official email address has a special addition that identifies him as an employee of the IT department - but apparently the autocomplete did its job on Hofreiter's side, the additional abbreviation slipped into the address line, and the Taurus email ended up with the wrong Scholz. At least the mishap was immediately noticed because the Chancellor's office manager was copied. Hofreiter takes the faux pas calmly. “The letter reached the Chancellor, I know that,” says the Green politician. "If incorrect email addresses were our only problem with the Chancellery, I would be satisfied." Since the early days of the war in Ukraine, Hofreiter Scholz has been pushing for more and faster military aid. The Chancellery is skeptical about the delivery of long-range Taurus weapons.
