details have emerged of how tennis superstar Serena Williams celebrated
her marriage to Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian in front of some of
Hollywood’s biggest A-list guests.
Williams
walked down the aisle in a stunning strapless gown by Sarah Burton for
Alexander McQueen teamed with a glittering cape and a traditional veil,
The New York Post reports.
Her bridesmaids wore dresses by Galia Lahav with capes matching Serena’s.
After exchanging their vows, Williams changed into a Versace number for the reception with a detachable skirt for dancing.

She also wore a pair of custom white Nike sparkly sneakers.
The
New York Post also reports each table at the reception was named after
one of Williams’ Grand Slam titles, and guests even took home replicas
of her trophies which held their place cards.
Eighties
band New Edition played a five song set before a DJ took over and the
bride took to the dance floor with sister Venus. Guests all got white
Converse to wear to dance, monogrammed with the couple’s initials, The
New York Post also reports.

Brides Executive Director Lisa Gooder told E! News the couple did not see each other before they walked down the aisle.
Their two-month-old baby girl Alexis Olympia Ohanian Jr. was also able to walk down the aisle with help from Serena’s mother.
“Alexis really was amazing during the ceremony. The couple wrote their own vows,” Gooder said.
“They
were super personal and he really delivered and said ‘You are my Queen
and we already have our Princess.’ Everybody was crying. There wasn’t a
dry eye in the house.”
The couple had a Disney-inspired wedding and danced their first dance song to ‘Tale as Old as Time.’
“Serena
loves Disney and Alexis and Serena danced their first dance song to
‘Tale as Old as Time.’ I think that song is really significant because
that song’s from Beauty and the Beast and they come from two such
different worlds and I think that was the theme of the evening,” she
said.

“There were a lot of athletes and sports stars blended with the tech community from Alexis.”
The Lion King’s ‘Circle of Life’ and Beauty and the Beast’s ‘Be Our Guest’ were also played at the event.

As New Edition were playing, the couple went on stage to perform a choreographed dance, Gooder said.
She
also revealed to E! News that Ohanian was able to bring in a carousel
to the event around 1.30am, and guests including Beyoncé hopped on for a
ride.

Williams
and Ohanian’s guest list included Kim Kardashian, Beyonce and Jay-Z,
Ciara, Eva Longoria, Caroline Wozniacki and her fiance and NBA star
David Lee.

Vogue editor -in-chief Anna Wintour was also there as Williams has signed an exclusive deal with Vogue for the wedding photos, with guests banned from bringing mobiles to the nuptials.

They
announced their engagement in December 2016 and the lavish reception
was held at The Contemporary Art Museum and was expected to continue
until 3am local time.
But this did not stop Kardashian from hitting a popular 24-hour eatery after the event for a late-night snack.
Kardashian
posted on Instagram that she and her squad hit up the world famous Cafe
Du Monde, which is famous for it’s beignets - a sugar encrusted
donut-like dessert.
She showed
followers that she and her friends had stocked up on several of them,
and boasted about not leaving New Orleans without eating them.

Williams
and Ohanian met in May 2015 at the Hotel Cavalieri Hilton in Rome, when
Ohanian sat down at the table right next to Williams’ group by the
pool. Williams and her friends tried to get him to leave by telling him
there was a rat at his table. When he responded, “I’m from Brooklyn. I
see rats all the time,” they invited him to join their table.
