Trump Tweet: Hits back against Time Magazine ‘Person of the Year’

BY ANNETA GRIFFEE / NOVEMBER 24, 2017 /
Last year, shortly after winning the election to become the next President of the United States, Donald Trump won Time Magazine’s “Person of the Year” award.

This year, President Trump is currently in fourth place, with one world leader, one special interest group, and one hashtag all ahead of him.

Currently leading the poll by a huge margin is Saudi Arabia’s leader, Crown Prince, Mohammed bin Salman, with 23 percent of the vote.
Tied for positions #2 and #3, with 5 percent each, are “The Dreamers,” a DACA protection program for illegal aliens, and the hashtag #MeToo, a social media campaign that highlights sexual abuse committed by high-profile figures.
President Trump is in 4th place, with 4 percent of the vote. Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, singer Taylor Swift, San Juan mayor Carmen Yulín Cruz, and Russian president Vladimir Putin also each have 4 percent of the vote.
Hillary Clinton is in the 2 percent slot. She shares that distinction with Steve Bannon, Colin Kaepernick, Maxine Waters and Kim Jong Un.
Friday afternoon, the president sent out a statement on Twitter, saying Time had told him he “probably” was going to win it, if he went along with their conditions. In true Trump form, he said “probably” wasn’t good enough.

Time Magazine called to say that I was PROBABLY going to be named “Man (Person) of the Year,” like last year, but I would have to agree to an interview and a major photo shoot. I said probably is no good and took a pass. Thanks anyway!” Trump tweeted. Online voting on TIME’s Person of the Year award ends Dec. 3, and the winner will be revealed on Dec. 6.
