Theresa May hints at Brexit concessions to win over disaffected Tory MPs
Theresa May urges MPs to come together to deliver Brexit
Theresa
May has hinted she may grant Brexit concessions to disaffected Tory MPs
to try and win them over and quash a potential rebellion.
The Prime Minister said she is “listening carefully to those who wish to improve” the EU (Withdrawal) Bill and that she hoped “we can all come together to deliver” the UK’s withdrawal from the bloc.
It comes after The Telegraph revealed that Mrs May is facing a rebellion from at least 15 Conservative MPs who are threatening to block her plans for Brexit in Parliament.
The group has informed senior party figures that they will join forces with Labour to thwart new measures that would enshrine the date and time of Brexit in law.
The rebels have urged the Government to withdraw the Brexit date amendment which has been tabled to the Bill and which MPs are due to vote on in the coming weeks.
