We are so sad.
Unique singer Joy Fleming passed away yesterday at the age of 72.
We adore her outstanding ESC entry from 1975 ' Ein Lied kann eine Brücke sein '.
( A song can be a bridge )
According to many ESC fans from all over the world Joy Fleming is the real winner of ESC 1975 in Stockholm.
One of these fans is Linde Lund's mother Ingrid who shared her memories with us.
I was there in 1975 and Joy Fleming was the favourite. It wasn't fair at all what they did it to her. The audience adored her so much and everybody was convinced she would be the winner. I can't believe it until today and I'm still furious about this result. Joy Fleming's song is one of the best ESC entries ever and she deserved so much to be ESC winner 1975.
- Joy Fleming, real name Erna Liebenow, née Raad (15 November 1944 - 27 September 2017) was a German singer who is probably best known for her performance in the Eurovision Song Contest in 1975. She performed the song "Ein Lied kann eine Brücke sein" and was placed seventeenth out of nineteen countries.
Joy Fleming made a further Eurovision bid in 1986, participating in the German national contest with the song Miteinander.
- Joy Fleming's next involvement with Eurovision came in 2001 when, under a
somewhat confusing arrangement with Swiss television she co-sang their
contribution to the German final. The song, Power of Trust was performed with two other singers, Lesley Bogaert and Brigitte Oelke and was placed second. Joy made another attempt in 2002 and finished as runner-up yet again, this time performing Joy to the World with the group Jambalaya.
