Trump calls pollsters "criminals." Polls show his current approval rating at just 30 percent
US President Donald Trump is furious after a series of recent polls showed his popularity among Americans has continued to decline, in some cases even below 30%.
New polls show dramatic drop in popularity
In a furious rant on Monday, Trump even wrote on Truth Social that certain pollsters were "criminals" and "should be investigated for VOTE FRAUD."
Trump's approval rating hits new low
Trump's furious response to Truth Social: "Criminals and election fraudsters!"
"These are negative criminals apologizing to their subscribers and readers after I won the election by a huge margin. Much bigger than their polls gave me credit for. They lose a lot of credibility in the process and then continue the fraud and lies in the next election cycle, only worse," Trump wrote. "They suffer from Trump Derangement Syndrome. And nothing and no one can do anything about it. THEY ARE SICK. They write almost exclusively negative stories about me, no matter how well I do (99.9% at the border, the BEST NUMBER EVER!), AND ARE TRULY THE ENEMIES OF THE PEOPLE!"
Overview of Recent Trump Approval Poll Results
Trump appears to be referring to polls showing his popularity has plummeted just months into his second term. An Associated Press/NORC poll released Saturday and Sunday and a Washington Post/ABC News-Ipsos poll released Sunday both found Trump's approval rating currently at 39 percent. This represents a significant decline from where he began his term.
Other polls: CNN, New York Times, and Fox News report weak numbers
Several other polls released last week and over the weekend showed Trump's approval ratings in the low forties. Americans—including Republicans—are increasingly skeptical of his handling of virtually every major issue, from immigration to the economy. A New York Times/Siena College poll released last week showed an approval rating of 42 percent, while CNN/SSRS put it at 41 percent, and even Fox News puts the president at 44 percent.
