An FSB agent has infiltrated Volodymyr Zelensky's inner circle.
A Russian FSB agent, Oleh Kulinicz, infiltrated Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky's inner circle. Kulinicz was informed about the plans of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, which had a decisive influence on the development of the situation. His activities were part of a larger operation led by Vladimir Sivkovych, the former deputy director of the National Security Council of Ukraine.
Sivkovych, who currently works for the FSB, built a spy network whose goal was to bring Ukraine under Kremlin control. Kulinicz, as a trusted adviser to Zelensky, had access to crucial information that he passed on to the Russians. His role in Zelensky's presidential campaign and his subsequent position as head of the SBU's Crimean department allowed him to monitor and undermine Ukraine's defense preparations.
In 2022, the British government identified Sivkovych as one of four former Ukrainian politicians who collaborated with the Russian services. The United States imposed sanctions on him for his actions that destabilized Ukraine.
Kulinicz, who knew about the invasion plans emanating from Crimea, did not transmit evidence to Kyiv, which influenced the course of events.
Charged with treason
Kulinicz was arrested on treason charges in July 2022. Evidence against him includes documents seized from computers in Moscow and materials found during a raid on his Kyiv apartment. Kulinicz's trial is ongoing, and his arrest sparked a purge in Ukraine's security service.
If found guilty, Kulinicz faces up to 15 years in prison. His arrest marked the beginning of a sweeping purge in the SBU that continues to this day. These changes are aimed at strengthening Ukraine's intelligence service and protecting the country from further infiltration.
