After his retirement from politics, Austria's former Chancellor Sebastian Kurz is trying his hand at being an entrepreneur. His IT company Dream reports a 100 million dollar investment, thus exceeding a company value of one billion dollars.
Success for Austria's ex-Chancellor Sebastian Kurz (38) and his IT company Dream: The cybersecurity company, which Kurz founded with two partners in Tel Aviv in early 2023, reportedly raised 100 million dollars (95 million euros). "With the investment, the company's valuation increases to 1.1 billion dollars, making 'Dream' officially a 'unicorn'," the company said.
The company specializes in protecting the critical infrastructure of states and companies using artificial intelligence and employs around 150 people at its headquarters in Israel and in branches in Abu Dhabi and Vienna, it said. The new investment should enable expansion, especially in the USA and South America.
Many states are faced with the challenge of defending themselves against an ever-increasing number of increasingly complex attacks with their own systems, which are often outdated, said Kurz. The best hackers in the world are working on the solutions offered by his company based on artificial intelligence.
Kurz resigned as head of a coalition of the conservative ÖVP and the Greens in 2021 in the face of corruption investigations by the public prosecutor's office. The 38-year-old denies the allegations. Shortly afterwards, he also resigned as ÖVP chairman and left politics altogether. In Austria, there is speculation as to whether Kurz could return to the political stage. It is considered certain that his success as an entrepreneur will not limit his prospects.
