Stefan Raab reveals his plans for his ESC comeback
Stefan Raab has already written many success stories with the Eurovision Song Contest. Not least, his protégé Lena Meyer-Landrut won in 2010 - the second ever for Germany. Now the presenter wants to conquer the ESC stage again.
Together with RTL and ARD, he is launching a new show: "Chefsache ESC 2025 - Who sings for Germany?". In four primetime live shows, Raab and his jury will select the best candidate from 24 acts to represent Germany at the ESC next year.
This is how the ESC decision is made
In the shows, the candidates have to show their skills in several singing rounds and song disciplines. The finale will be broadcast live on ARD and is the responsibility of NDR.
The experienced ESC presenter Barbara Schöneberger will be leading the evenings, according to "bild.de". The candidates have to prove their skills in several singing rounds and song disciplines. The special thing about this new ESC show: the decision as to who will compete for Germany in Switzerland is completely in the hands of the viewers. In the grand finale, you can vote for your favorite from home by phone or online voting.
Stefan Raab's ESC return together with Lena?
At the press conference, the entertainer explained: "I'm not doing this to come second or third. I want to win! If we only come second, you can punish me afterwards."
It is not yet clear whether Lena will be back in the game. "I don't want to rule it out," said Stefan Raab at the press conference. "We haven't talked about it yet, but we were in touch four weeks ago shortly before my boxing match."
Stefan Raab is happy about his ESC comeback
With the aforementioned fight against Regina Halmich, Raab returned to German television after a good ten years. Now he is happy to be able to celebrate his ESC comeback as well. "I am happy that this year we have such an unprecedented constellation with RTL and ARD. I can tell you, it will be really good. (...) "It is important that you don't just do a show so that people can get used to it. It's not just about winning, but also about making good entertainment."
Solo artists and bands can apply at raab-casting.de, eurovision.de or rtl.de. The deadline is November 28, 2024 at 11:59 p.m.
