TV award: German Anna Schudt wins International Emmy Award
The German actress Anna Schudt has won the Emmy as best skin actress. The WDR film "Blind Spot" was previously empty.
At the International Emmy Awards in New York, the German actress Anna Schudt won the award for Best Actress. She received the award for her embodiment of the comedian Gaby Köster in "A cold would have been enough". The autobiographical RTL production tells of how Köster struggles back to life after her stroke. "Gaby, we finally made it to New York," Schudt said to the audience-sitting comedian as she accepted the television award on stage. "I love you so much." Schudt prevailed among others against Emily Watson from the UK and actresses from Brazil and South Africa.
The International Emmy Awards award prizes in 13 categories. At the beginning of the award ceremony, the German WDR production "Toter Winkel" was considered to have been the best TV movie / miniseries. The film with Herbert Knaup and Hanno Koffler was defeated by the British drama "Man in an Orange Shirt". The BBC production tells the family story of a gay grandfather. In addition, films and mini-series from Brazil and Japan were nominated.The awards are presented by the International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, an association of some 500 television companies from 60 countries. Among the previous German award winners are among others "The Manns - a novel of the century" and "Germany 83". Last year, the comedy series "Family Braun" won.
