Trump: US Star Calls for Resistance – "Rise Up!"

Donald Trump didn't take long to achieve his goals. In his second term as US President, he has already attacked the separation of powers and driven stock prices into the ground – thereby destroying the only retirement savings for millions of Americans.
Resistance to Trump's increasingly autocratic actions is only tentative; the first demonstrations have already taken place, but a truly nationwide protest has so far failed to materialize. And this despite the fact that many Americans are suffering from the deterioration of the situation under Trump. One reason for this: In the US, it is considered rude to talk about politics.
Megastar Calls for Protest Against Trump
So, it takes big, well-known people to set a positive example. Even during the election campaign, stars like Taylor Swift and Beyoncé spoke positively about Trump's Democratic opponent, Kamala Harris. But no one has truly called for resistance against the current president, Donald Trump. Until now.
At his concert in the British city of Manchester on the evening of May 14th, Bruce Springsteen (75) takes the microphone. But not to sing – the global star has something to say: "My home, the America I love, the America I've written songs about, which has been a beacon of hope and freedom for 250 years, is currently in the hands of a corrupt, incompetent, and treacherous government."
Thunderous applause greets the musician as he continues: "Tonight, we call on all who believe in democracy and in the best possible America to stand with us and speak out against authoritarianism!" This is clearly in Donald Trump's direction, but the musician isn't finished yet: "Let's ring in freedom!"
Before Springsteen begins his next song, he shouts: "This is my land of hopes and dreams!"
"Treasonous government!" – Music icon spills the beans
Bruce Springsteen is undoubtedly a political figure. Since the beginning of his career, he has used his music to address social injustices and political issues. Many of his songs, such as "Born in the U.S.A.", "The Ghost of Tom Joad," and "American Skin (41 Shots)," critically address problems such as war trauma, poverty, social inequality, and police brutality.
He shows particular solidarity with the working class and those on the margins of society—a commitment that also stems from his own humble origins. Springsteen is also politically active offstage. He regularly comments on current developments in interviews and actively supports political candidates such as Barack Obama and Joe Biden.
He has repeatedly and pointedly criticized Republican presidents like George W. Bush and especially Donald Trump – out of concern for fundamental democratic values and the growing social divide in the United States. For this, the mega-star has been attacked, but also celebrated. Hundreds of comments supporting him can be found under an excerpt from his speech against Trump.
