The news that RTL has decided to end Stefan Raab's (58) "Du gewinnst hier nicht die Million" (You won't win the million here) is currently causing quite a stir in Germany. However, the former show titan is currently on tour for another major project: Together with our Eurovision hopefuls Abor & Tynna, he is already in Switzerland, specifically Basel, to prepare for the Eurovision final on May 17th.
The three, accompanied by Austrian candidate JJ (24), visited the German and Austrian embassies in Basel. The respective ambassadors of both countries, Franziska Pfeiffer for Austria and Dr. Christian Nell for Germany, were also present, as ORF reports.
During the visit, Tynna reportedly emphasized how much ESC participants have to put their all into their short performance in front of a global audience: "In those three minutes on stage, you have to give 100 percent." Her brother, meanwhile, praised the Swiss precision and how "at the ESC, everything is timed like clockwork, meshes seamlessly, and runs like clockwork."
Raab's Special Promotion
But Stefan Raab wouldn't be Stefan Raab if he limited himself to such a compliant performance in Basel. So, he promptly grabbed a megaphone and a brass band and marched through the city streets to personally collect points. Footage on social media shows Raab trying to convince passersby of the German entry: "Dear Swiss, we need twelve points from you!"
His strategy for the maximum score? Singing the theme song from the animated series Heidi, complete with a yodeling interlude. Whether his entertaining move helped or hurt the team's points tally will be revealed on May 17. As a member of the "Big Five," Germany is seeded for the finals alongside France, Great Britain, Spain, Italy, and host country Switzerland.
