Guildo Horn, a German Grand Prix participant 27 years ago, has little to do with today's Eurovision Song Contest. "This isn't my competition anymore," the 62-year-old told the RedaktionsNetzwerk Deutschland (RND). He's "probably getting too old." Last year, he "simply didn't really like anything anymore." "The artists are overwhelmed by these video walls. They themselves are just a tiny part of the production."
Horn describes himself as a "purist." "I like handmade vintage music with good melodies." This year, he will perform with a band for people with disabilities at an "Inclusive Music Festival" in Trier on the evening of the Eurovision Song Contest final on May 17. "That's important to me."
He wishes success for this year's German entry, "Baller" by Abor & Tynna, Horn said. "I think both artists are fantastic; they have a great charisma and come across brilliantly."
Horn is from Trier. After studying education, he worked as a music therapist. He has been committed to the inclusion of people with disabilities for decades. In 1998, he represented Germany at the Eurovision Song Contest (ESC) with the song "Guildo hat Euch lieb!" The musician has lived in the Bergisches Land region, near Cologne, for many years.
