Trump Takes a Calm View of the Decline in Tourists

Trump Takes a Calm View of the Decline in Tourists dpa • 43 million • 1 minute read Fewer and fewer Germans are moving to the USA. The number of foreign tourists in the USA is declining under the administration of US President Donald Trump – but he doesn't see this as a major problem. Asked whether concerns about possible arrests upon entry could play a role, Trump replied: "No, we treat our tourists well." Perhaps a bit of nationalism plays a role, but he doubts it, Trump said in Washington after signing several executive orders on the education system. 28 Percent Decline in German Tourists Overall, almost twelve percent fewer visitors came from overseas last month compared to the same period last year, the Washington Post reported. According to the report, 28 percent fewer visitors came from Germany in March. The newspaper cited data from the International Trade Administration, part of the US Department of Commerce. Concerns about Problems at the Border Foreign tourists had been unsettled, among other things, by a series of arrests upon entry into the United States. This concerns several people, including German citizens, who were denied entry despite having complete documentation. In some cases, those affected were held in deportation centers for days or weeks.
