Traffic light blocks ban on "Grey Wolves" - explosive inquiry reveals details! "Unbearable hypocrisy"

Was it all just a cheap PR show? There was great excitement when Turkey's Merih Demiral showed the infamous "wolf salute" to the Turkish fans in the European Championship round of 16 after his double against Austria (2:1). Even Federal Minister of the Interior Nancy Faeser (54, SPD) got involved in the debate and called on UEFA to consider sanctions against Demiral. The defender was banned for two competitive matches.
Of all people, Faeser, who herself seems to be an obstacle on the way to banning the "Grey Wolves" (we reported here), called on a sports association to impose punishment. An explosive request shows that the traffic light coalition is still blocking the question of whether the Turkish right-wing extremist "Grey Wolves" and the "wolf salute" should be banned in Germany!
Traffic light coalition continues to block ban on Grey Wolves
According to the Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution, the "Grey Wolves" are the strongest right-wing extremist movement in Germany with around 11,000 supporters. The group is already banned in France and Austria, and the Bundestag also passed an application for a ban in 2020. The Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution has even dedicated its own publication to the "Grey Wolves".
Turkey fans celebrate the "Grey Wolf" Merih Demiral, provocatively show the "wolf salute".
Many murders and acts of violence in Turkey, but also in Europe and Germany, are attributed to them. The movement is considered anti-Semitic, racist and violent, especially against Kurds, Alevis and Armenians. But all of this does not seem to be enough to bring about a ban in Germany. This editorial team has received an explosive request from Sevim Dağdelen (48, BSW). In it, the Bundestag member asks the traffic light coalition what the status of the federal government's review process for banning the "Grey Wolves" and the associations of the ideologically close "Ülkücü" movement is.
Explosive request reveals details
Dağdelen also asks: "Or has the review process commissioned by the German Bundestag on November 18, 2020 been temporarily discontinued by the federal government in the past 1,318 days (the date on which the question was submitted). And if so, why?"
The federal government's response is pale. It first states literally that the "federal and state security authorities are consistently following up on indications of possible extremist activities (...)". And then it is blocked and responsibility is passed on: "The ban procedure under the Association Act is not an application procedure, but a decision under the sole authority of the executive. The federal government generally does not comment on considerations of bans, regardless of whether there is reason for such considerations in individual cases."
"Unbearable hypocrisy from Faeser"
There is a risk that "potentially affected people will align their behavior accordingly and thereby impair the effectiveness of operational official measures or thwart them." Well, that can certainly be doubted, as members and sympathizers of the "Grey Wolves" in Germany have no qualms about openly displaying their ideology, as has happened often enough in NRW (Mülheim, Cologne, Dortmund) in recent months.
Applicant Dağdelen, who is also chairwoman of the Foreign Affairs Committee, told this editorial team: "It is unbearable hypocrisy on the part of Interior Minister Faeser to stress that the Turkish right-wing extremists are firmly in sight and at the same time to delay the ban on the Islamist-fascist 'Grey Wolves' and the 'wolf salute' in the traffic light coalition. Faeser should finally fulfil her oath of office and avert harm from the population. It is inexplicable that there should be a foreign discount for right-wing extremists."
